History of PDR-EPDAB
- In December 2019, the Commission for Evaluation and Accreditation of Counselor Education Programs was established.
- On 16.06.2020, the Commission for Evaluation and Accreditation of Counselor Education Programs held its first meeting. The purpose of the meeting was determined as conducting evaluations regarding the establishment of an institution related to the accreditation of counselor education in Turkey. The issue of whether the accreditation body that would accredit counselor education should be under the roof of the Turkish Psychological Counseling and Guidance Association was discussed at the meeting. The invitees included Turkish Psychological Counseling and Guidance Association Headquarters Board of Directors members, Accreditation Commission members, faculty members who are not members of the Accreditation Commission but are deans or vice-rectors, representatives from commission members preparing draft standards for PDR practice courses in schools, representatives from commission members preparing draft standards for individual psychological counseling practice courses, representatives from those attending the department heads meeting preparation workshop in Ankara, representatives of Ethics Commission members, Ethics Committee representatives, and Scientific Board representatives. As a result of this meeting, in summary, the participants stated that they considered the work done regarding the accreditation of counselor education under the roof of the Turkish Psychological Counseling and Guidance Association to be useful and concluded that it would be beneficial to expand the work on the subject.
- On 30.06.2020, as the Turkish Psychological Counseling and Guidance Association, a visit was made to the Higher Education Quality Council (YÖKAK).
- On 25.09.2020, the Commission for Evaluation and Accreditation of Counselor Education Programs and the Self-Study Report Preparation Commission completed the preparation of a draft self-study report.
- On 12-14-17.10.2020, Webinar Trainings were held by the Commission for Evaluation and Accreditation of Counselor Education Programs and the Self-Study Report Preparation Commission.
- On 26.03.2021, an extraordinary non-elective general assembly meeting of the Turkish Psychological Counseling and Guidance Association was held, and an additional article was added to the statute regarding the Unit for Evaluation and Accreditation of Psychological Counseling and Guidance Programs. The Accreditation Supreme Board principal members and substitute members were elected at this general assembly.
- On 21.05.2021, the 16th Department Heads meeting was held online. An informative speech was given by Prof. Dr. Ragıp Özyürek regarding the initiation of accreditation studies in counselor education. A positive opinion was formed among the department heads regarding the initiation of studies in this direction.
- On 31.05.2021, the statute amendment was approved by the Ankara Provincial Directorate of Associations of the Ministry of Interior.
- On 11.06.2021, the first meeting was held between the Unit for Evaluation and Accreditation of Psychological Counseling and Guidance Programs , the Founding Accreditation Supreme Board, and Commission members. Various commissions regarding standards and applied courses were established at the meeting.
- On 19.09.2021, another extraordinary non-elective general assembly meeting of the Turkish Psychological Counseling and Guidance Association was held, and new articles were added to the statute regarding the Unit for Evaluation and Accreditation of Psychological Counseling and Guidance Programs.
- On 08.10.2021, the statute amendment was approved by the Ankara Provincial Directorate of Associations of the Ministry of Interior.
- On 01.02.2022, the Accreditation Supreme Board decided to upload the National Standards for School Counseling to the Turkish Psychological Counseling and Guidance Association webpage and to initiate the process of receiving feedback from counselor educators across Turkey and all stakeholders.
- On 15.02.2022, the Accreditation Supreme Board decided to upload the National Standards for Undergraduate Psychological Counseling and Guidance Education to the Turkish Psychological Counseling and Guidance Association webpage and to initiate the process of receiving feedback from counselor educators across Turkey and all stakeholders.
- Between 6-7 May 2022, program evaluator trainings were carried out by the Association for Evaluation and Accreditation of Agricultural Engineering Educational Programs (ZİDEK) Education and Information Committee members.
- On 13-14 May 2022, the Counselor Education, Supervision, and Accreditation Symposium was held online.
- On 14.05.2022, a registration application was made to YÖKAK.
- On 12.10.2022, a re-registration application was made to YÖKAK.
- It was registered by YÖKAK for 2 years until 21.12.2024 with the Board decision dated 21.12.2022 and numbered 2022.13.05.
- On 28.03.2023, the first YÖKAK monitoring meeting was held.
- PDR-EPDAB completed its preparations to grant accreditation to undergraduate programs in the 2023-2024 period, and the first applications were received in 2024.
- On 26.06.2024, the 2nd YÖKAK monitoring meeting was held.
- On 7 November 2024, the II. Counselor Education, Supervision, and Accreditation Symposium was held.
- On 15.02.2024, an introductory training was given to the Education Faculty Deans Council (EFDEK) by the PDR-EPDAB Accreditation Supreme Board, and an effort was made to create awareness among the deanery administrators.
- CACREP Board Chair Assoc. Prof. Sonja A. Sutherland participated as a speaker in the II. Counselor Education, Supervision, and Accreditation Symposium.
- On 22.08.2024, the first institution training was given by the PDR-EPDAB Accreditation Supreme Board.
- On 18.10.2024, the first evaluator training was given by the PDR-EPDAB Accreditation Supreme Board.
- On 22.11.2024, the first student evaluator training was given by the PDR-EPDAB Accreditation Supreme Board.
- On 01.10.2024, a re-registration application was made to YÖKAK.

ZİDEK Program Evaluator Training Workshop
Dear Psychological Counselor Educators, Psychological Counselors, and Students,
We are pleased to announce that the efforts of the Turkish PDR Association PDR-EPDAB to become a national accreditation body have reached their final stage. In this final phase, program evaluator training will be provided to faculty members, psychological counselors, and students in the Counseling and Guidance departments.
The workshop for this training, organized by the Agricultural Faculties Educational Programs Evaluation and Accreditation Association (ZİDEK) and members of the Education and Information Committee, will take place on May 6-7, 2022. The workshop program is available on this website. We would like to extend our gratitude to the ZİDEK Board of Directors for their contribution to the accreditation of psychological counselor education.
Psychological counselor educators, students, and psychological counselors who wish to become volunteer program evaluators and participate in this training are requested to fill out the “ZİDEK Evaluator Training Workshop Participant List Form – PDR-EPDAB” available on the website and send it to this email address by Thursday, May 5, 2022.
A participation certificate will be issued by ZİDEK after the training, and the sessions will be recorded.
A Zoom link for the invitation to the ZİDEK Workshop will be sent to the email addresses of those who provide the necessary information in the participation form.

International Relations Commission Trainings
Before starting the training of Evaluation Teams and applying for accreditation as an accreditation body, PDR-EPDAB has initiated training for psychological counselor educators. One of these trainings is provided by the members of the International Relations Commission and includes experiences related to the accreditation processes in the USA. We believe that these trainings will be beneficial both for the training of evaluation teams and for the structuring of the accreditation body.

Explanations Regarding the Process and Payments for Programs Applying for Accreditation
Undergraduate programs applying for accreditation evaluation by PDR-EPDAB for the first time in the 2023-2024 evaluation period must apply to PDR-EPDAB by January 26, 2024 (or by May 31, 2024, for second period applications).
Programs that do not submit their accreditation applications by January 31, 2024, for the first application period, or by May 31, 2024, for the second application period, will not be considered for evaluation in the 2023-2024 period.
Psychological Counseling Education Programs Eligible to Apply for Accreditation
Psychological counseling education programs at higher education institutions recognized by YÖK in Turkey and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus can apply for accreditation evaluation.
Only undergraduate programs related to psychological counseling education can apply for accreditation to PDR-EPDAB.
A psychological counseling education program applying for the first time must have graduated students before the application date.
Applications must be made separately for each program if there are primary and secondary education programs, as well as Turkish and English programs, within the same department/division.

Accreditation Fees and Payment Schedule
The accreditation fees for the 2023-2024 period have been updated according to the decision taken at the PDR-EPDAB AÜK meeting dated 25.10.2023 and numbered 2023/04.
The accreditation fees for each program to be evaluated are provided in the table below.

(1) Evaluation of programs to be assessed for the first time or those with existing accreditation that are typically evaluated every five years.
(2) Evaluation of programs that were previously given short-term accreditation based on the general evaluation.
(3) Evaluation of programs that were previously given one-year accreditation based on the interim or general evaluation.
For the 2023-2024 period, the accreditation fees to be paid by institutions for the General Evaluation of their programs are as follows:
- 15% after the initial application is reviewed and accepted, and the necessary documents are prepared, to be paid within May 2024,
- 35% after the self-evaluation reports are reviewed, to be paid within October 2024,
- The remaining 50% will be collected after the evaluation visit.
PDR-EPDAB National Standards / Criteria to be Used in Accreditation Evaluations
The “Turkish PDR Association PDR-EPDAB-PDR Undergraduate Education National Standards Version 1.0-27.04.2022” will be used in the evaluation of all undergraduate programs to be assessed.
Self-Evaluation Report to be Used in Accreditation Evaluations
Undergraduate programs that will undergo General Evaluation must use the “Turkish PDR Association PDR-EPDAB Self-Evaluation Report-Version-1.0-10.2023” document.

Appeals and Complaints
Dear Stakeholders,
Reports and accreditation decisions prepared for psychological counseling education programs that have been externally evaluated by PDR-EPDAB for accreditation are open to appeal.
Detailed information on how institutions running the programs can exercise this right is explained in the Turkish PDR Association PDR-EPDAB Appeals and Complaints Commission Directive.
As an organization, our goal is to achieve excellence by maximizing the reliability and consistency levels in the program evaluation and accreditation processes we conduct. Continuous improvement, a fundamental component of quality assurance, is our strategic and perpetual goal. By following the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) cycle, we strive to improve the quality of the services we provide to you every day.
However, we have not yet achieved perfection. It is crucial to know the areas for improvement in our services to achieve this. Your contributions are needed in this regard.

- Report those responsible for these disruptions.
- If you think the prepared reports and decisions made are incorrect, use your right to appeal.
